Help for Jamie (teacher and LGBTQIA advocate)

This is Jamie. She's one of my teachers and like all teachers, she's at the mercy of so many systems and structures that do not honor the hard work that teachers do. She's dealing with a serious health issue that may be lifelong, and as someone who loves her and sees what she does for our students every day, I want to do everything I can to help her. She is fully insured but struggling to cover all the costs that are not covered by the paltry insurance my state-funded school can provide.

So, what does Jamie do? She single-handedly designed a sex-positive, gender-inclusive health curriculum currently being considered for adoption by the CA dept of education. A dauntless advocate for LGBTQIA+ students, Jamie sits on several committees aimed at making the world a safer place for those students. On a more personal level, she supports our queer youth by helping them find resources, housing, and connection. She is one of the finest educators I have ever worked with and a beloved part of our community.

I know the holidays are a tough time to ask for money, but if you support LGBTQIA youth and are in a position to be generous, helping Jamie would mean helping scores of students, too. Anything helps.
