Ahhhh, the "Golden Years" when you have finally gotten old enough for your social security to kick in and you can relax and enjoy life! Right? Not so much!
I'm 79 years old and I just moved back to the place I love the most.
What I was not prepared for was, that the city I've been wanting to live in again so much, doesn't have any places to rent to those of us who live on a fixed income. Since I don't give up easily, I've been contacting everyone and every place there is ie: Salvation army, churches, welfare and all the out reach programs, all have waiting lists as do the apartments for rent. The apartments that are available want anywhere from $1200 to $2500 to move in!
I have never had to ask for help like this before and my family is unable to help me. I need to raise enough money to cover the first months rent and deposit plus one extra month so I can get a part time job and get back on my feet. I need a one or 2 bedroom apt. With a 2 bedroom I can get a roommate, and help us both keep costs down.
I've been looking for almost 2 weeks and as of tomorrow, 1/28/20, I'm out of a room and out of money! I do get my SS check the first week in February, but until then I'm homeless and even then, still won't have enough for the ennitial move into a place!
I lived in an apartment in another state for just over 10 years and was never late on my rent.
I have 2 amazing dogs, ages 11 and 12, they are small and well trained who have NEVER been away from me, EVER, they have been away now for 2 weeks! My heart is breaking for them, I miss them so.much!
I'm looking for jobs I can do, I have a bad back and I can't stand for long periods of time or lift heavy objects, but I'm very good on phones and I'm good at sales so I'm applying to those jobs.
As I have said, I've never done this before, but then I have never been 79 and homeless either!
THE GOLDEN YEARS!!! REALLY!?
GOD BLESS THOSE WHO CAN HELP ME!.
