Our beloved Rosa needs our help. After months of seeing doctors, stage 1 to 2 cancer was found in her left salivary gland. She is going to have Parotid surgery where the salivary gland will be removed from the left side of her face which should remove the cancer completely. We are hoping that she will be 100% cancer free after this surgery.
It's a delicate operation as the cancer is very close to her facial nerves. If these are cut, she could be paralyzed on one side of her face. We want the best care for her so we are going to MD Anderson in Houston, TX which is one of the top cancer centers in the world. Here is the website for the center: https://www.mdanderson.org/.
Rosa is a retired school teacher in El Paso, TX and her retirement only covers her food and living expenses. She will need to go to the cancer center in Houston, TX to meet with the doctors and surgeons to consult before the surgery and again for the surgery itself which will be at least two trips. We are raising money to help her cover expenses to travel, stay and receive care in Houston and for the many tests before, during and after surgery that she will require.
David, her son, will be with her every step of the way keeping her spirits up and telling her bad jokes to make her laugh.
