Help Bud Broom Get Back on the Road to Healing
This fundraiser is for my brother, Bud Broom, who recently received the heartbreaking diagnosis of pancreatic and liver cancer. As if that weren’t enough, in the very same week, Bud found out that the EBS system in his Chrysler 300 was beyond repair—leaving him with no choice but to sell the vehicle for parts.
Bud now faces the harsh reality of needing a reliable vehicle to make his weekly 150-mile round trip for medical appointments and cancer treatment.
A Life of Service and Sacrifice
Bud’s story is one of dedication, faith, and perseverance.
In 1978, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Program, serving honorably for six years. During his service, Bud was exposed to AFFF fire-fighting foam, which has since been linked to certain cancers. While the direct cause of his diagnosis is still being examined, this exposure is a likely factor.
After his military service, Bud built a solid career in the nuclear industry, working hard and saving diligently with his wife to secure their retirement.
Then, during the COVID-19 pandemic, tragedy struck. His beloved wife became seriously ill. Bud spent nearly everything he had trying to care for her. She passed away three years ago, leaving Bud to live alone, supported only by Social Security and comforted by the faithful companionship of his dogs.
Why We're Asking for Help
Bud has always been someone who gave to others—financially supporting friends in need, faithfully tithing to every church he attended, and living with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Now, Bud is the one in need.
This GoFundMe campaign aims to help Bud:
Purchase or repair a reliable vehicle to travel to and from treatment
Cover fuel and maintenance costs
Help with unexpected expenses related to his care and well-being
Your support—whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this page—means the world. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
God bless you for taking the time to read this. Please keep Bud in your prayers and thank you for any help you can offer during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
John "Dede" Broom (Bud's only brother)
