Jack's Heart Transplant

Jack was born May 10th, 2007 4 weeks early. He was diagnosed with Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome (Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a severe congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped) when I was 18 weeks pregnant; we were lucky we kne...w beforehand. He was 4 days old when he received his 1st open heart surgery called the Norwood procedure and 4 months old when he received the 2nd open heart surgery called the Glenn procedure. After many years of routine doctors visits we found out that he was not a candidate for the last procedure needed called the Fontan, his heart was too weak. The next step was a heart transplant. He's been taking medicine since birth that has since kept him stable...until recently. At his last visit ( February 4th, 2014), we were informed that his heart function is continuously getting lower and is a sign of heart failure. At this time, we were informed it was time to head to Seattle and met with Dr. Law, the head doctor at Seattle Children's Hospital transplant team. Today, February 25th the decision was made...Jack's name will be added to the transplant list and his journey in finding a new heart begins.

Any donations made will greatly help our family through this very difficult and trying time. We will be doing a vast amount of traveling with out of pocket expenses to make sure that Jack gets the care that he needs. This will include fuel, hotel stays, food, and other living expenses as well as additional medical expenses.
