Lauren has just started her life. She graduated from UC Davis, at 23 she married the love of her life, Chris. At 24, she and Chris bought a house, and at 25 she received her cancer diagnosis.
On February 5th, Lauren was taken to UC Davis Emergency due to bloodwork that had doctors concerned. After many tests, transfusions, a bone marrow biopsy, and multiple days in the hospital without an official diagnosis, on February 11th doctors told Lauren that she had B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Philadelphia Negative. Doctors have a plan and will be treating the leukemia with the pediatric approach, which is the most successful but also the most aggressive treatment. Lauren is expected to spend about 27 days in the hospital and then will continue chemotherapy for two years.
Lauren brings light and laughter to every situation, which includes the oncology floor at UC Davis Health. Lauren walks laps around the oncology ward every day as exercise increases survivability. Recently, she started a spontaneous Macarena line as she was dancing down the halls.
Lauren is doing her best to keep a positive outlook on a really tough situation. She is a constant inspiration to those that care about her. When feeling well enough, Lauren spends her time in the hospital painting, reading in her two-person book club (her and her husband), talking to friends and family, doing arts and crafts, and playing Animal Crossing with friends.
We are asking for donations to help Lauren and Chris with the medical expenses and living expenses associated with Lauren’s leukemia treatment and hospital stay. Lauren & Chris are so grateful for the love and support they have received during this journey so far and thank you for taking a moment to read Lauren's story and consider a donation.
