Joe's AML fight, Hopeful for a Transplant
Update 7.8.24
We want to express our sincere gratitude for the ongoing love and support you've shown my brother, Joe, and our family. These past seven months have been a rollercoaster, but we're determined to stay positive.
Joe was twice scheduled for a stem cell transplant, a lifesaving procedure to help in his fight against cancer. Unfortunately, in May, the transplant team discovered a recurrence of the cancer just two months after his previous hospitalization.
He was readmitted on May 17th for an intensive regimen of five chemotherapy treatments administered within a single week. He remained in the hospital for a total of five weeks.
We met with the transplant team again this past Friday, July 5th, and we received some difficult news. Tests revealed a trace of cancer in his bone marrow still, and additionally there's a possibility of cirrhosis of the liver. With the liver in the condition it's in they cannot move forward with the transplant.
However, there's hope. A liver biopsy is scheduled this week to determine the next steps. We're praying for a swift resolution to this hurdle and that the cancer remains under control during that time, allowing the transplant to proceed.
Please continue to send your love, and support to him. Your encouragement means the world to us as we navigate this challenging journey. We are confident that with your support and his fighting spirit, he will overcome this.
12.25.2023:
This Christmas our family was delivered unexpected news - Joe was rushed to Rush University Hospital where he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It is an aggressive blood cancer that needs continuous blood transfusions and an intense chemotherapy treatment which requires him to stay hospitalized.
At this point he has been hospitalized for 2 weeks and he just started his first 2 weeks of an intense chemo treatment. Tests are being taken to determine his status throughout and what other treatments will be necessary going forward. While Joe fights, we want to ease his worry about the future. This battle will keep him from working, limit his ability to pay bills, and medical expenses.
That is why we started this GoFundMe to help Joe focus on healing, not finances. Every donation, big or small, will lift a weight off his shoulders and let him know he's not alone in this fight. It’ll mean he can focus on getting stronger, healing then reclaiming his big personality and get us laughing again.
Please share, and pray for my brothers full recovery. Thank you for your love and support.♥️

Update on my brother
My brother is fighting on. The first round of chemo has done what it could do to fight the cancer but the results for my brothers bone marrow test came back yesterday and show the cancer is still in his bone marrow.
Since they did see some progress the doctors want to start another round of a slightly different treatment immediately. My brother lost a lot of weight, strength and energy, his hair is starting to fall out, and last week was the hardest pain-wise. So starting again is a hard thing to accept for my brother. So we were all there yesterday to visit him and support him for the next round and I want everyone to do so by showing some love on his FB, IG, anywhere on Social media and tell him he can beat this shit.
Please know, with treatment he has some sores in his mouth and lack of energy that make it difficult to talk at times and responding is also difficult but he still loves to see the support. I need your prayers and words of encouragement for my brother please . Thank you
