Covid Relief for India

In recent weeks, India has been plagued by another massive wave of COVID-19. While countries like the U.S. begin to move back to normalcy, India has now reached a higher number of COVID cases than any other country has ever had. With over 400,000 cases per day and tens of thousands of deaths, the Indian healthcare system is near collapse. Unemployment and poverty numbers are increasing drastically as most of the country is stuck deciding whether they should risk their lives to put food on the table or stay home and face starvation.

Americares India has supported over 100 health care facilities in 14 states throughout the pandemic and is responding to the latest surge of COVID-19 infections by helping health facilities manage the increased caseload of COVID-19 patients. They are providing facilities with essential equipment and supplies, including 4,600 ventilators, 600 oxygen concentrators, over 6.6 million gloves, masks and face shields, and 1 million protective supplies, including N95 masks, to 10 COVID-19 hospitals in Mumbai and Delhi. They have also reached 50,000 families in poverty to educate them on how to stay safe during the pandemic.
