Hi, my name is Shaunagh and I am fundraising on behalf of my son Cooper.
Cooper is 17 years old and currently studying Year 12 ATAR at Churchlands Senior High School.
On Monday, 24th March 2025, Cooper was riding to school and accidently fell from his bike. Unfortunately, this simple fall resulted in serious injury. Cooper landed directly onto his chin, and it took the brunt of the force from fall. This caused two significant jaw fractures, some smaller facial fractures and knocked out one tooth and broke another. We're thankful the injuries aren't worse but those that know Cooper, know that he doesn't do things by halves. A simple broken wrist or leg is far too pedestrian for our Cooper!
After an intense few days in hospital, we're so glad to be back home. Albeit with some new metal pins in his jaw. Cooper is healing well from surgery. We can't risk any bumps to the face while healing so he'll be our little boy in the bubble for 6 weeks post surgery. He is also required to be on a liquid and puree diet until his jaw has healed completely.
Once his jaw has healed, we can begin the open ended process of reconstructive dental work. This may need to continue until the age of 21 as his jaw won't stop growing until then. The reconstructive dental procedures will be undertaken in stages.
As a single mother raising 3 kids, we've always had to priorities our funds to get by. Cost of living has continued to rise in the last few years, I had to make the decision to drop our health insurance at the beginning of this year.
We are seeking support to assist with the ambulance bill and future dental procedures necessary to get his beautiful smile restored.
Any support will be greatly appreciated!
