Send the 7th Grade to NYC!

Tax deductible
Help DC seventh-graders cap off their yearlong study of the American Dream by sending us to one of its formative landmarks: Ellis Island in New York City. This trip will teach students how immigrants of the past came to pursue their American Dreams and will include a visit to the award-winning Lower East Side Tenement Museum to learn how immigrants became a part of American life. In a school where half of students are first- or second-generation Americans, and all are striving for their own, personal American Dreams, exploring how immigrants created better lives for themselves in the past will provide students insights into their futures.

Your support can help students end the year with an unforgettable out-of-state trip in which academic curiosity takes center stage as what students have been learning in the classroom becomes real before their eyes.

The $2000 needed to fund this trip will defray the cost of buses (80% of the fee), plus admission fees to Ellis Island and the Tenement Museum for each of our 85 students. With more than 70% of our students qualifying for the free or reduced meals program, many families need financial assistance for this trip. We need to secure funding by March 1, 2018 to meet our reservation deadlines.

Students will leave for New York City and return to DC in one day in order to make this trip light on the wallets.

Please help us to make the American Dream come alive for our 7th- grade scholars!
Please help make our seventh-grade dream a reality!
