Support Lori's Family After Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
Lori Drury Strother (not on Facebook) was at her home in Swannanoa in Western North Carolina with her family when Hurricane Helene came through with unestimated devastation. She and her husband Jason, with their boys Wiley and Wren, survived but witnessed the unthinkable in their home and community.

They are wondering how they are going to rebuild and recover.

Ladon Drury, her brother, and I, along with close family and friends are doing what we can to help assist them with the expenses after their temporary displacement in another home and community. During this displacement their son Wiley has had several visits to the ER for pneumonia and now their son Wren also has it. Jason has returned to work, but has a two hour commute. They need financial help with housing, gas, and medical expenses. Any help is greatly appreciated and will be used accordingly.

from Lori:
My name is Lori Drury Strother. My husband, Jason, and I have raised our two boys, Wiley and Wren, in the beauty of Swannanoa, NC. On the morning of Friday, September 27th, our amazing community was destroyed. We had water seep into our home. We used down power lines as clothes lines. Our neighborhood sustained 4 landslides. We were trapped by many trees on the road. Neighbors came out with chainsaws and a track hoe. It was amazing to watch everyone come together to clear the road. Already in shock, we finally made it down the mountain, only to find that Swannanoa as we knew it was gone. We spent a week in the Valley before leaving to shelter an hour east. Those days in the Valley were stinky and dusty. Our 14 year old got pneumonia. He went to the ER 3 times in 6 days. As he was healing, our 12 year old also got pneumonia. We're blessed to be in a town with a fully functional
hospital. Had we stayed in Swannanoa, they would not have the same care, as Asheville's hospital was completely taxed. My wonderful brother, Mark, texted me an address and said go. We're so grateful. Water was returned today, October 24. The family who owns the home where we're sheltering canceled the reservations for the rest of the month. A place for our children to heal is the most important. The house is modest yet expensive. We don't have the money to spare, so we're struggling to get back on our feet. A water line on our property was crushed, so we've also had to pay for those repairs. Jason is commuting well over an hour every day for work. He's also under the weather, stressed, and exhausted. He has been an incredible champion for our family. A real hero! Asking for help isn't easy, but in this uncertain future, any help will be a light. We're still waiting for inspections of
our foundation, septic, and mold. Surrounded by an uncertain future for us and our special community, any support from you will help us rebuild and heal. Bless all of you! Please continue to keep Western North Carolina in your prayers. We're mountain strong, but still broken . Thank you. God is great!! ✝️
