The Pickfords need your help! In January, Becky and Lester’s sweet, two-year-old daughter Brielle (Bellie Girl!) was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. Her retina had detached, and the removal of her eye was necessary to prevent spreading. She was also fitted for a prosthetic. The process required a few surgeries and many months to heal. She’s continually getting examined to monitor if any recurrence may happen. Those exams and MRIs have always given good results. Brielle didn’t miss a beat and was smiling and singing through it all!

Fast forward to mid August... Brielle hadn’t been eating well, came down with a fever and wasn’t acting like herself. Becky and Lester brought her to the ER when she started complaining of stomach pains. After a weekend of being in and out of Fairview Ridges, they were transferred to Children’s for more blood work, an ultrasound and an MRI. The test results revealed multiple masses on her liver. A biopsy confirmed that the Retinoblastoma had metastasized to her liver. There are many more tests and things to come including a lumbar puncture to ensure it hasn’t traveled anywhere else. Brielle will need aggressive chemotherapy, radiation and a bone marrow transplant.

In the meantime, the family is praising God that Brielle’s left eye is in perfect health, the MRI of her brain is completely normal and that their sweet toddler continues to smile, sing and bring JOY to everyone around her!
