Emmy's Journey

I am starting this fundraiser for niece Emersyn. She is my twin sister Danielle and her fiancé Alan's, daughter.

What they thought would be a normal trip to Vermont to see my brother and his family, soon became a nightmare and worst fear no parent should ever have to endure.

All packed up and ready to go, they noticed what appeared to be blood in Emmy's diaper. They immediately rushed her to the hospital to see what was going on. After the ultrasound was performed and excruciating hours of further testing, Al and Danielle were shocked and in disbelief to find out Emmy had a large mass on her kidney, which was soon diagnosed as a Wilms tumor. Emmy was in surgery two days later to have her entire kidney removed. After two weeks in the hospital they were luckily able to go home for a few days to be with their other two children, before having to go back to the hospital for Emmy's second surgery to have her Port put in to start her 19 weeks of chemotherapy just yesterday. While they were home for a few days, Danielle met with Dana-Farber and found out she also has a nodule on her lungs.

With countless hours at the hospital, missing work, winter here, the holiday around the corner, I'm asking anyone that is willing to help my family during this time and give them some piece of mind. Anything will help, and we all truly appreciate it. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and help Emmy on her journey back to health. Thank you.
