Save Emmett ❤️

Donation protected
UPDATE: Unfortunately Emmett passed away on the evening of Dec. 19th with his whole family by his side. He fought hard for over a week to stay alive while in a coma. How hard he fought to stay alive against the odds is a testament to how much he loved life and wanted to live. Emmett was an incredible young man that touch many lives in his short life. Since his passing I have been deeply moved by how many people have reached out to share their stories of how wonderful a friend Emmett had been to them. If you have a story you'd like to share about Emmett please feel free to reach out to me. Every story I hear makes me more proud to call him my brother; he is truly a kind and wonderful soul. I am also very proud to say he never disappointed me once in his life and he continues to make me proud to this day. He successfully donated his organs so that others can continue to enjoy the gift of life. It is truly a tragedy that your life was cut short so senselessly. I love and admire you Emmett and I always will. I give you my word that I will not rest until there is justice.

The original amount was set at $500k because we were looking at the possibility of having Emmett in an assisted living situation for a long time. However, because he passed away we are now raising funds to pay for his current medical bills and funeral expenses. Because Emmett was an enthusiastic biologist we are going to use  the remainder of the money raised to go towards an annual research grant for ecological and conservation related research. The plan is to offer $500 grants annually to help support research or conference expenses for undergraduate students involved in conservation and ecological research.

ORIGINAL POST: In the early morning hours of Dec. 12th my bother Emmett was the victim of a brutal assault by a bouncer at a night club that left him in a coma with a traumatic brain injury. Surveillance videos show that not only was the attack unwarranted, but it involved the use of an extreme amount of force. My brother Emmett has never been in a fight in his young life because not only is Emmett the kindest and most caring person I've ever met, but he has compassion for every living thing. Some might say he is too kind for this world. Why he was assaulted will never be justifiable. But what's important now is how we can save his life and save whats left of his beautiful mind. He is 24 years old, a scholar who recently graduated with a bachelors of science in biology, a good friend to everyone who has met him, a brother, a son, and a loving uncle. We need him in this world, he is literally a treasure. Please help us save his life. He is currently in a deep coma and has undergone brain surgery removing half of his skull in the process. We are hoping and praying everyday that he will open his eyes. The doctors have proposed treatments that could save his life and these treatments will be exceptionally expensive but it is our only hope. These treatments are expected to take place immediately. As many of you know, our family is not wealthy and we cannot afford his medical care at all. Please support my family's battle to save his life by donating to our GoFundMe and sharing the link. If everyone donates and shares I think we can raise enough money to save him. This could be our only and last hope.
