Hello! I'm Dean, I'm 28, I like video games and rock climbing, and I'm trans-masc! I began my transition journey 4 years ago, but now I need some help.
Why?
The NHS waiting lists for top surgery are 10+ years long, and unfortunately my GP has been unwilling to help me out in this process. I'm already funding my own testosterone treatment thanks to them, and with the current cost of living I'm unable to save up to get top surgery privately despite working full time.
This surgery would massively improve my quality of life and ability to live authentically, as it is I must use binding methods which can be painful and sometimes harmful, and I don't want to be using these methods for the rest of my life.
The Costs
I have consulted with several professionals and inquired with my chosen surgeon, who gave me a guide price of £8,524 for the surgery itself, plus a £250 consultation fee. I will also require two signatures from GIC professionals, which may cost extra. For this reason I have rounded up the cost to £9,000.
Luckily the surgeon I have chosen works very close to where I live so I don't need to fund any travel or a place to stay! However if I need to stay overnight at the hospital, the funds may be used for this as well.
I know it's a lot, and that I may not reach this total, but every little helps! Even just sharing this gofundme would mean so so much.
Edit: I have decided to travel abroad for this surgery to keep costs down, elsewhere in Europe the price is close to half what it costs here! I managed to put some money aside in the meantime, so not including that, my new goal is £4192.
Thank you for reading, have a wonderful day!
Love from Dean :)
