Dear Friends and Family,
We are reaching out to seek your support for our precious Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma; Bernie (Roemhildt) Knutson.
In December of 2023, Bernie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
She first went to the St.Cloud Hospital with symptoms of pneumonia. While being examined, they performed a scan and found a tumor and lesions in her left lung. From there, she went to the Mayo Clinic to get a biopsy and diagnosis. The results came back as Stage 4 Lung Cancer. The cancer has not spread to any other parts of her body but has had a heavy impact on her day-to-day life.
Bernie is an avid gardener, bird watcher, and enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and family. However, her health struggles have prevented her from enjoying the simple things in life. Bernie's current condition has confined her to a wheelchair or walker, and she is diligently working through physical therapy to regain her strength and independence.
After hearing the diagnosis, she went to the Coborn's Cancer Center to receive her first and second treatment of Chemo and Keytruda (a new experimental drug). The doses of Keytruda caused Bernie's Crohn's disease to flare up, making her very nauseous and weak. This resulted in multiple hospital visits and medications to counteract the symptoms.
A new scan revealed the tumor has started to shrink as a result of the first two treatments. As advised by doctors, the treatments have now been cut in half to lessen the impact on her Crohn's disease. The coming weeks will consist of healing and increasing her strength at a nearby Rehabilitation Center, before her third round of Chemo.
Bernie's goal is to reach remission with the help and support of her friends and family. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will have a meaningful impact on her journey to overcome cancer and reclaim her life.
Thank you for joining us in supporting Bernie as she fights this battle.
*100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO BERNIE*
