Hi everyone,

My name is Alexa Patterson and I am the oldest of my three siblings Victoria, Thomas, and Nicholas. I'm reaching out to ask for your support as we all navigate through a challenging time not only as a family but most of all for our youngest brother, son, and uncle, Nick.

As most of you may not know my brother Nick was in a catastrophic motorcycle accident on November 29th 2024. He was in a coma for multiple days, has several broken bones including vertebrae, ribs, scapula, clavicle, right hand, knee ligaments torn, and a severe traumatic brain injury with brain bleeds. The open fractures from his clavicle and shoulder made a fist size open wound tearing through and leaving significant damage to muscles and nerves to his right arm. We are praying everyday that his amazing surgeons will be able to put his arm back together, if not Nick’s life will be drastically changed as he will not be able to lift any weight or even be able to control that arm.

Now that our family has had time to process this all; we are in the midst of the financial strain that short term disability does not come close to covering. The at fault driver has pleaded guilty and paid their fines which we greatly appreciate as a family. Sadly the at fault drivers insurance (which we will likely settle with but could take up to 3 years) is the lowest state minimum amount possible needed to be insured. This will roughly cover only 5% of the approximate total amount of medical expenses Nick will accrue over time. In addition to his medical bills he also has assistive devices needed and copays for physical and occupational therapy that he attends three times a week. We are making this fund to hopefully make it one less thing Nick has to worry about finically and can focus on healing.

Nick is recovering to the best of his abilities and trying his hardest to keep a positive outlook, attitude, and mindset. The reality of it is that this recovery will be over many years. Just his brain injury alone is going to take hard work to gain back memory and function. He is also looking at what we believe to be is two more surgeries in the near future. One on his upper shoulder, chest, and arm area and another on his knee.
