Help Bimal Sharma Walk Again – A Life Changed in One Fall

My name is Khagendra Acharya, and I am writing on behalf of my dear friend,

Bimal Sharma from Nepal.
Bimal’s life changed in a single, devastating moment. While climbing a tree for grass of tree branches for cattle to support his family, he fell from a great height. What should have been a normal working day turned into a life-threatening tragedy.
The fall severely injured his spine. Doctors found a serious fracture in his lower back that damaged his spinal cord. He had to undergo emergency spinal surgery, where metal screws and rods were placed in his backbone to stabilize it. The operation saved his life — but it could not restore what was lost.
Today, Bimal is paralyzed from the lower body.
He cannot walk. He cannot stand. He cannot move freely. Even basic bodily functions have become a daily struggle. He has difficulty urinating and requires constant medical support and assistance. The once active, hardworking man is now confined to a bed, dependent on others for even the simplest tasks.
The emotional pain is as deep as the physical one. Bimal was the main support of his family. Now, instead of providing for them, he worries about being a burden. His family is doing everything they can, but the cost of treatment, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, medications, and long-term care is overwhelming.
Doctors have advised long-term rehabilitation therapy and specialized treatment that could significantly improve his condition and give him a chance to regain some independence. The estimated cost for surgery expenses, hospital bills, rehabilitation therapy, mobility equipment, and ongoing care is $50,000 USD — an amount far beyond what his family can afford.
But there is hope.
With proper therapy, assistive devices, and continued medical care, Bimal has a real chance to improve his quality of life. Your support can help him sit independently, strengthen his body, manage his bladder condition safely, and possibly take steps again with assistance.
Every donation — big or small — brings him closer to recovery.
Every share spreads hope.
Every prayer gives strength.
Please help us give Bimal a second chance at life.

Risks & Challenges
Bimal’s condition is serious and complex. While there is hope, the journey ahead is not easy. We want to be transparent about the risks and challenges involved.
1. Uncertain Recovery Outcome
Spinal cord injuries are unpredictable. Even with surgery and rehabilitation, there is no guarantee that Bimal will fully regain movement. Recovery depends on nerve healing, which can take months or years — and sometimes remains incomplete.
2. Risk of Infections
Because Bimal has difficulty urinating and may require catheter use, he is at higher risk of urinary tract infections. Long periods of limited mobility also increase the risk of:
* Bed sores (pressure ulcers)
* Lung infections
* Blood clots
Preventing these complications requires continuous medical supervision and hygiene care.
3. Long-Term Rehabilitation Commitment
Spinal rehabilitation is not a short process. It requires:
* Consistent physiotherapy
* Daily exercises
* Strong mental resilience
* Ongoing financial support
If therapy is interrupted due to lack of funds, his progress could stop or reverse.
4. Emotional & Mental Health Struggles
Sudden paralysis is emotionally devastating. Bimal faces:
* Depression
* Anxiety about his family’s future
* Loss of independence
* Social isolation
Mental health support is just as important as physical recovery.
5. Financial Burden
The $50,000 goal covers essential treatment and therapy, but spinal injuries often require long-term care beyond one year. Continued medical needs may arise in the future.
6. Risk of Secondary Complications
Without proper rehabilitation and medical care, complications may include:
* Permanent muscle stiffness
* Chronic nerve pain
* Bladder and bowel dysfunction
* Reduced life expectancy due to complications

Why Support Matters
Although there are risks, early and continuous treatment gives Bimal the best possible chance to:
* Regain partial mobility
* Improve bladder control
* Sit and move independently
* Live with dignity
Your support reduces these risks and increases his chances of recovery.

Your support directly funds his recovery journey.
Thank you for believing in Bimal’s second chance.

Together, we can help him stand again.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
