We are the Cyborg Eagles VEX IQ robotics team. We are 4th graders from Hale Kula Elementary school located on Schofield Barracks military base in Hawaii. Our all girls team includes Jamie, Brianna, and Kennedy. All of our dads are in the military. We love robotics because we learn programming, building, and teamwork!
VEX IQ is a new robotics program for elementary and middle schoolers. We use a remote to control a robot that the team builds. We control the robot to put little or big bucky balls inside the goals to score points. During the match we work with another team to score as many points as possible.
We did really awesome this year in our first VEX IQ competition in January. We got invited to the Hawaii state championship because of our skills challenge scores. Then at the state championship we made it to the VEX IQ World Championship in Anaheim because we won the Design Award. We won the Design Award by keeping track of problems we had with our robot and the changes we made in our Engineering Notebook. That means we are going to compete in California with teams from all over the world! The competition is coming up soon on April 23-26.
That also means we need money to pay for a hotel, transportation, meals, and for registration. We also need money to buy more robot parts, like a battery and a new remote control because our original one did not work so we had to borrow someone elses. We cannot raise all that money by ourselves. Can you help us get to California?
