**This is absolutely insane and I am so grateful for all of you and your donations! I cannot say thank you enough! I will be calling the vet tomorrow to set up an appointment for the tuxedo. Catching the black cat is a work in progress. Again thank you all!
My name’s Melissa and I seem to be chosen by the cat distribution system far too often.
I found a shivering kitten on the side of my apartment on 12/1 and learned today (12/3) that my neighbor took her from her mom at approximately 2 weeks old and would let her outside when she wouldn’t use a litter box.
She’s about 4 weeks old now and will need to be taken to the vet for vaccinations, a future spay and testing for contagious viruses like FelV, with the hope that this will help me find her a new home.
With the upcoming weather, I cannot imagine leaving her outside. All the shelters, rescues and fosters are full, do not take in strays or don’t respond when they don’t have the space. Euthanasia is also common with overcrowding. I’ve asked shelters directly and they say nothing is guaranteed.
I already have 3 pets of my own and am unable to keep her myself. She is currently confined in my bathroom.
There is also a black young cat that has been stalking my patio since I took the tuxedo in and hiding in a runoff drain. I’m hoping to catch and fix that one as well, even if just a TNR. (trap, neuter, release)
Stand for Animals has kitten packages for $220 that do not include the virus testing. I am hoping to get them both taken in.
If you can help in any way, every dollar is more than appreciated!
