Support Free Speech and Sexual Assault Survivors

We are raising money for free speech and sexual assault survivors.

Facebook admins around Melrose, MA, are being threatened with defamation lawsuits because they are simply hosting free speech on their group's page. Lawyers are counting on fear and the cost of a summons (to a suit they can't win) to silence an account of sexual assault by a sitting city council member before it can be told to the people as he runs for reelection this November.

This fundraiser serves two purposes:

1) To help bolster the resolve of those admins that feel this newsworthy story should be told.

2) To raise money for Callisto : a national nonprofit that empowers campus survivors of sexual assault by providing a secure, private way to document incidents and connect with other survivors, increasing accountability for perpetrators.

Here's how it works:

- Every dollar raised up to our goal will be held for any Facebook admins should they need it.

- Every dollar raised over our goal will be donated to Callisto, with donations happening every 6 months.

- Once the legal threats are over, all money in the fund goes to Callisto and the GoFundMe is closed.

*I want to emphasize that absolutely NO money from this fund will go to either of the main parties involved in this dispute. This is strictly for the protection of free speech in the various Facebook groups who choose to tell this story.*
