Dear family, friends, and community

On July 28th, my sister suffered a stroke. She went to the local hospital and was then transferred to Madison. On August 5th, from there she was transferred to a specialty rehabilitation hospital also located in Madison. She is expected to be discharged from there on August 15th and will continue outpatient therapy. At this point, we still don't know how long her recovery will take.

My sister is strong and independent and not someone who would ever ask for help. But this medical emergency has turned life upside down for her and her family.

They were in the middle of relocating when the stroke happened. They were supposed to close on house that day and everything came to a stop. Along with mounting medical bills and lost income, travel expenses, they were preparing to move her daughter to college in Florida by August 24th, which has brought even more emotional and logistical challenges during the already difficult time.
