Meet Laura, our dear friend, and friend to so many others, wife of Ben, amazing massage therapist with gifted hands, compassionate soul, generous, loving heart, passionate mind that always seeks love and truth.
To say Laura has overcome many obstacles throughout her years is an understatement. This GoFundMe page is to highlight her most recent struggles with ovarian cancer in 2014, followed up with extensive chemo, then hernia surgery two years later. During and after this time, Laura spent many hours, days, weeks, and months fighting for justice from the Veterans Administration for disability benefits for her husband Ben. Ben has debilitating head and neck pain, caused by exposure to chemicals while stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina years ago. Ben has had to stop working due to the extent of his pain, which has caused severe financial hardship for himself and Laura. During Laura’s medical events, there was little if no income and their savings rapidly depleted.
In addition to fighting for Ben’s rights, Laura has spent many years caring for her mother (now deceased), brother who is mentally challenged, and sister who has special needs of her own.
Fast forward to present day and Laura has been diagnosed again with cancer, probably a recurrence of the ovarian cancer. Major surgery has been scheduled and the surgeon will be removing two-thirds of her liver plus her gallbladder. Recovery will be slow and painful, and Laura and Ben will need all the help they can get. Since privacy is a hallmark of these modest individuals, collecting funds for support so they can figure out their needs seems the best possible choice.
Please consider donating to our dear friend Laura, and Ben, to help them recover from this devastating and arduous journey with minimal financial stress and anxiety.
Included below is an excerpt from Laura’s recent communication to all those in her world. Her love and hope are ever present. Let’s do what we can to bless this beautiful soul!!!
With LOVE and prayers,
Margie Rosenberg and all those who love and support our Laura
Laura’s communication: “…All of you and your lives became a part of my internal landscape and remains in my heart – ever flamed. It is a place of soft regard and G-d’s grace that connects us. I know that if G-d asks me to do this, it is important and I will show up the best way I can… I am keeping you all close in my heart and I hope I can return to you in service.”
