TC, the Calico Kitty, was fished out of a trash can (hence the name, TC) by Park Services officers and rushed to Clatsop County Animal Shelter in Warrenton, Oregon.
We could see her sweet little paw was hanging off the bone, so we took her to Bayshore Animal Hospital, just as fast as we could, where she underwent an emergency amputation for her necrotic leg. That's how "Trash Can" puss became "Tripod Calico" (the three-legged cat).
We'll never know how she got into the trash, how her leg got so mangled, how her eye got so infected she lost all sight (in that eye), but what we do know is there's a dedicated team at Bayshore and Clatsop County Animal Shelter, who are going to nurse this sweet girl back to health.
She's scared, borderline feral, and still starving hungry, even though we've been feeding her since she came in. She's hiding food...perhaps a habit she learned while she was out there, fending for herself.
Once she's healed up and a little more socialized, we're going to be looking for the perfect home for her.
Trash Can turned Tripod Calico will finally be Top Cat.
