Help Support Finnley's Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Shawna. Three years ago, I asked for a golden retriever on my birthday. I never thought I would get one, they were pricey and we just didn’t have the space for a dog, but nonetheless, my parents brought Finnley home for me. I was a happy girl and have been ever since. Finnley is one of the sweetest boys I’ve ever met. He wouldn’t hurt a fly, he runs around 24/7, and his other best friend is Cooper, our Australian Shepard.
On 5/27/24, one of the scariest days of my life occurred, a day I never want to relive. Around 3:00, Finnley was whining and crying after eating, couldn’t sit down, was drooling badly, dry heaving, and his stomach was huge and firm. My parents thought at first he just ate too fast and got sick, but after a while, we decided to rush him to the vet when it looked like it was only getting worse. Finnley had bloat, a condition where his stomach gets twisted up and flipped. We knew it would probably be expensive and we thought we were looking at a couple of thousand, but then the vet told me and my sister that to save Finnley’s life, it would cost $6,500.
I knew we didn’t have the money for that upfront, which led to the other option, putting him down. Never in a million years did I think I would only have 3 years with Finnley and that be it. I was trying everything I could to do anything but that. After hours of crying, we finally worked something out, which was to go ahead with the surgery. On the low end, it was $6,500, but if Finnley needs anything extra, it goes up from there. What I am asking is if you can donate anything at all, please do. A little goes a long way, and if you can’t donate, please share. The donations will help cover his vet bill.
