Hi!  Our local church will be sending a group to Nairobi, Keyna this June to help provide support to the people of Jacaranda Community.  Jacaranda provides jobs, education, and medical care for widows, single mothers, and children throughout the city of Nairobi.  Our group will be led by a local pediatrician and our function will be primarily to provide medical treatment. 

As a non-medical professional I'll be supporting the medical staff with whatever they need to make things work better or faster but primarily I hope to spend as much time as possible investing in and loving on the kids.  These guys live in absolute crippling poverty and I want to show them that they have value and they are loved.  My personal goal will be to bring as much joy into their lives as possible in the amount of time we're there. 

Right now, based on last year's trip, we estimate about $2500 to cover the airfare and room/board.  I'm committing to going without some things over the next several months and applying as much of my own money toward this as possible.  Any funds raised beyond travel expenses will be contributed to additional medicine and medical supplies. 

I'll document as much as possible and I'll share photos and stories when we return.  Also, if you donate $100 or more, I'll bring back a handsewn item like this handsome fella and ship it straight to your door!
