Andy Sipes retired from Pontiac Correctional Center in 2015 after a great career. While just beginning to enjoy his well earned retirement with his wife Tammy and three children, Andy had a terrible injury. On November 29th, 2015 Andy was outside with neighbors when he slipped on the morning frost and hit his head on a vehicle bumper. He was immediately unresponsive and was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. After being evaluated he was then life flighted to Peoria. He had multiple brain bleeds and dangerous swelling. Doctors had to remove a section of his skull to help with the swelling. Andy has been improving, however the progress is slow. He has had to be moved to a nursing home which the insurance does not cover. The family is also paying copays for therapies two times a day, five days a week. His wife has been by his side non stop and has been unable to work during this time. They also have a child in school while Tammy is commuting 2 1/2 hours one way to be with her husband. Andy is scheduled for another surgery on February 19th to replace the skull cap. Any money raised will go to the family to assist in the great financial burden this injury has caused. No family should have to fight with insurance companies to get the help their loved ones need. Thank you to everyone in advance!
