Hello. My name is Crystal Boucher and I am hoping to raise funds to help my very dear friends The Tully Family. I hope in some way raising funds to help with the financial burdens they are recently facing we can take some of the weight off of their shoulders so they can focus all their attention on Pete's medical care and treatment and not on financial worries that often come hand in hand with a serious diagnosis.
They would NEVER ask for help on their own, so I have asked for and gained their permission to try to help . Fingers crossed that with the help of family , friends , and other kind souls we can help this amazing family through a very difficult time ,
Let me tell you a little bit about Pete Tully . He is a hard workin , loving , family man. He is an amazing father , a loving husband, and a treasured friend . He gives his all to his family and would not hesitate to help those whom he knew needed his help. My hope in starting this is that we can show him the same kindness ,love, and support he so readily gives to those around him,
On September 15th, Pete was admitted to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy for a ruptured appendix . Surgery went very well and Pete was feeling better . A few days later, that good feeling was almost completely squashed .. pathology had determined that the rupture was actually caused by a cancerous tumor . The cancer is a rare and aggressive cancer of the appendix (Goblet Cell Adenocarcinoma) . Because this is such a rare form of cancer they decided it was best to work with Cancer Treatment Centers of America to access Oncology specialists who have experience with this type of disease,
Pete, his wife , Traci, and their two young girls left for Phoenix , AZ on October 7th for Pete's initial treatment and his first surgery. They were under the impression that they would be returning this week, but have now been told they will be there , at least, through the 28th of this month or possibly through till November 9th. They will have to continue to make return trips to Phoenix several times for ongoing treatment based on the results of the first surgery and ultimately determining if the cancer has spread.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is an expensive treatment center and although The Tullys have decent insurance , CTCA is considered "out of network" so their expected out of pocket expense for 2021 is $8000 and then another $8000 after the 1st of January ,2022. Although Traci and Pete were mentally prepared to deal with the insurance costs , the cost of staying in Arizona during Pete's treatments is becoming a much heavier burden than they had anticipated. With the costs incurred for flights , hotel, rental car, airport parking (for their vehicle here in Oregon) , daily meals for four , MIFI internet so Traci can work and the kids can homeschool, as well as various basic needs such as toiletries etc , are going to cost them well over $5000 just for this initial trip and that is if they are able to return home on the 28th. It will be even higher if they have to stay until the 9th of next month . Their ability to return home sooner than later all depends on how Pete's surgery goes. If they are able to come home on the 28th , they will still have to return to Arizona on the 8th to begin the series of follow up treatments (chemo etc.)
Cancer is NEVER an easy thing to deal with , it is even harder when you're left wondering how much the extra expenses will effect your family . I think the very least we can do for them is help lift some of that extra burden and worry so they can truly focus on Pete's fight against this . I am asking you all to help me help them . For Family and Friends , I will try to keep you all updated. I ask that you all help share this and I thank anyone who can help in any way , big or small .
Tully Strong!!!!!
