My name is DeeDee Burnett. This is a story about one of my best friends. Many of you may have heard me refer to her as my sister. Her name is Vanessa Alvarez. She is one is the people in my life that teaches me how to be a friend. A special soul. She was diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma in 2009. It was that year that she was admitted to Cedars Sinai where Dr. Keith Black performed an emergency craniotomy after experiencing severe headaches and fatigue. they first detected a few large tumors. The tumors could not be removed At that time because the doctors feared they would spread. They instead sewed her back up and begin chemotherapy. Vanessa has been in and out of the hospital since that time. She has also gone in and out of remission for the last 9 years. So many times it seemed as this would be the last time. The story is so long and incredibly detailed. The cancer has returned on so many occasions I have lost count. It’s come back in many forms, shapes, sizes and names. Different types, different names, different sizes, different locations in the brain. One time one of the tumors pressed onto a part of Vanessa’s brain that left her without mobility on one side of her body. She is permanently disabled as a result. (Hasn’t lost her MILF swag) She used a very stylish cane for some time. None of this has stopped her from living, laughing, traveling, dating, and being a mom! This most recent diagnosis (leptomeningeal carcinoma) shows that one of the tumors 3cm is very close to an entry point in her spine. This is extremely frightening for everyone close to her. One time in 2014 she was in remission for so long and the cancer seemed SO far gone - that she took over guardianship of a brand new baby girl named Isla Knight ALvarez. She has been a mother to Isla for the last 5 years. ALL THE WHILE FIGHTING THIS!! Something else to know about “Tia” as we sometimes refer to her, is that she HAS TRIED EVERYTHING to rid her brain of this asshole. Gershon therapy, fasting, no protein diet, enemas, no sugar, juicing, herbs, tinctures, potions, healers, CBD, mediation, medication, yoga, Jesus, and more. She says she is not done investigating. This go Fund me is about the next thing on her list: A gut doctor: Byrnes Family Wellness in Woodland Hills. She has an appointment in May with these people and needs help not only with the costly appointments with the Dr., but just to live and afford all her organic produce and caring for baby Isla who is nearly 5 years old. She also wants to take Isla to Disneyland for her 5th Birthday on April 25th. Let me not leave out that Vanessa has worked during all of this and I feel she could benefit from taking some time off to REST!! Living a stress free life is great medicine to combat this thing called cancer. Whatever you can contribute will be so helpful and appreciated. Vanessa is someone who appreciates from deep inside even the smallest gesture. She spends much of her life caring for others and being of service. She goes above and beyond!! Let’s all get together and give back some of the support that she puts out to the world! HEAL my sister and start say no to others while we say YES to you!!! Also if you guys have any experience with this Vanessa is always open to referrals and recommendations. Send them her way! Keep in mind while she experiments with all of these alternative cures she STILL does regular chemo, radiation, steroids and is under great care at Cedars. As soon as we can get her into remission again she will be eligible for a long awaited stem cell transplant. Fingers crossed prayers up. We Love you Tia!!!
