Charlie Sinerate of North White Plains and graduate of Valhalla HS Class of 68 ( VHS Facebook link )recently passed away at the age of 67. He lived a life many of us would only dream of but in the end his death would bring extreme sorrow to us all that had the great pleasure and honor of knowing him. Learning to play music at a young age gave him the opportunity to work his way up to playing bass guitar and recording as a member of Tommy James and the Shondells -- traveling the world and playing at many historic venues including Madison Square Garden. That journey began in his hometown as a member of the Mystics, winning almost every Battle of the Bands that they entered, garnering many recording sessions and releasing numerous records in the process. They were THE band in Westchester in the late 1960s and everything they did turned to gold. His life in music was like a storybook… Unfortunately his story did not have a happy ending. The years that followed were very difficult on Charlie as he fell on many hard times. The saddest part of the story was that in the end he had nothing but memories ---no music, poor health and very limited resources including any means left for a proper burial. We wanted to do something to give him the resting place he deserves and for generations to come to look at the dash on his headstone to represent the joy that this man gave to so many people along life's journey . We appreciate whatever you can do to help in this process.
