​I am writing this with a completely shattered heart, and honestly, there are no words to truly describe the nightmare this beautiful family is going through right now. In the early hours of this morning, Monday the 1st of June, a devastating house fire tore through the home of Janelle Sandwith and her family right here in our Werribee community.

​While Janelle and her 11-year-old son miraculously managed to escape the flames by climbing out of a window, the grief they are waking up to today is completely unimaginable.

​It breaks my heart into a million pieces to tell you that sweet, beautiful 3-year-old Jordan, alongside the family’s two beloved dogs, tragically lost their lives in the fire. Jordan was the absolute center of their world. He was such a bright, happy little boy whose smile genuinely lit up every single room he walked into. He had so much innocent joy in him, and he absolutely adored his dogs, who stayed by his side and perished with him.

​In a single night, their entire world was reduced to ashes. They didn't just lose their house; they lost their precious little boy, their loyal pets, and every single memory they owned.

​My name is Jardine Jackson, and I have known Janelle for many years as a close friend. Watching someone I care about so deeply go through this is completely heartbreaking. We cannot take away this unimaginable pain, but we can come together as a community to wrap our arms around Janelle and her family, hold them up, and ease the crushing financial burden of this tragedy.
