On behalf of Shane and Jen's family and friends, this fundraiser has been created to support Shane's recovery from a heart attack and triple bypass surgery and his journey home.

I've tried to summarize their experiences over the last week and am unable to do a better job than simply repeating Jen's original post below. The expenses they have accrued in the last week and will continue to accrue in the next month and beyond are unimaginable. Please consider donating to the Dobbins' family as they focus their energy on Shane's recovery.

Ever since the kids were young, we told them we'd celebrate their 21st bday's in Vegas so that's what we did. Last Thursday, on Alec's 21st bday, Shane, Alec, Kirsten and I headed to sin city. It was late when we got there Thursday so we all felt like crap which carried into Friday after not getting much sleep.

By Sat morning, the jet lag had passed. Shane and Alec hit the casino floor early. Shane grabbed a breakfast sandwich and coffee before heading back up to the room where I was still getting ready for the day. He had some heartburn but didn't want that to hold up the day so he told us to go ahead without him and he would catch up with us in a bit once the heartburn passed.

Fast forward a few hrs, Shane calls and something's not right. I tell Alec and Kirsten to keep going, I had to go back to the room to give Shane some Tylenol b/c it was in my purse. By the time I got to the room, the onsite medical staff had already called 911 and the medics were on the way up in the elevator. After they did the EKG in the room, they said it was time to go. We took the ambulance ride from the Flamingo to the ER. Shortly after arriving to the ER, his status was escalated and he was rushed to the cath lab where he had an angiography done and heart pump put in. Afterwards, we learned he had a severe heart attack.

It was time to tell Alec and Kirsten they needed to come to the hospital but also not to alert Bri as she was at home with the dogs. We were due to fly home Sun morning. It was a very late night Sat but Alec and Kirsten were able to make the flight home and were there with Bri when we FaceTimed her. They had a few hrs to pack for the four of us, since we'd only planned on being in Vegas for 2 full days. Alec flew right back to Vegas Mon morning with Bri. After meeting them at the airport and taking the luggage back to the hotel, we went back to the hospital where he's been in the CVICU since Sat.

Around 10:30 am today, he was taken back for open heart surgery where, at a min, he'll have a double bypass. He's been alert and in good spirits all things considered. He said a few days ago that he didn't hit big while in Vegas and I had to remind him that had the biggest hit amongst us all by not being on the plane Sun morning b/c with certainty, the surgeon said the outcome would've been different.

The kids will be home in a few days and Amy, Bob and Kirsten have been godsends taking care of things at home this week. We're not quite sure how long Shane and I will be in Vegas for his recovery or when he'll be cleared to go home but the goal is sometime in June.
