Support Maria's Family in Their Time of Need
Donation protected
This is my friend Maria*. She is 35, works 2 jobs, and has 4 kids, from 3 to 13 years old. She’s funny, sweet, and a great mom.
Her husband, who was working on permanent legal status and had temporary status, was nonetheless deported by the incoming administration’s new crackdowns a couple of weeks ago. Between the legal fees and bills, this has put Maria* at risk of homelessness and severely behind on bills. And I’m asking you to help.
It’s all so overwhelming, and easy to feel powerless in the face of so many terrible things going on in our country right now. The ‘numbers’ make it all seem insurmountable. “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and start with the person closest to you.” As you read this, I beseech you to think of Maria* as the person closest to you right now, and help one person. It’s easy to push a button, and in the face of this feeling of powerlessness, helping others is power.
When I was at my lowest a couple of years ago, my community banded together and bailed me out. I’ve never felt so appreciated, and the knowledge that my community is so kind bolsters me every day. Please help Maria* the way you helped me. Her family deserves it more than I ever will.
