On November 11 Stan experienced a life changing event. He had an enormous stroke that left him with complete numbness on his right side. He also now has eyesight loss. He is unable to see anything on his right side. It is not a loss of just the right eye, it is loss of the right side of each of his eyes. He is unable to drive or work at this time. The return to work will take 6 months to a year, we do not know. We are commuting 130 miles twice a week to Allentown for eye therapy in the hopes that some of the eyesight will be renewed. It is new technology so there is not really a bar to set for any or all return. Nevertheless, we are hopeful. His short term disability has already expired and the longterm does not come into effect until May 1. He is no longer collecting any income. His insurance benefits will also expire in February and we will need to pick up Cobra benefits which are very expensive, in order to continue therapies. We are now existing on my $12/hr 35 hour a week paychecks. We currently have a mortgage payment, medical expenses, household expenses that have taken a toll on all saved monies. We have cut all unnecessary monies going out and have pared all un-needed extras in our lives. The motorcycle is the love of his life but is uninsured now and will be the last to leave if necessary. We still need to pay the essentials to live in our home and have a vehicle to drive to therapies. Also, the medical folks are not ashamed to try to collect already. We are proud and this is a huge step for us, but sometimes one needs to do things out of their comfort zone. I have faith that help will come. Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
