In Loving Memory Of Charles (Charlie) Spencer

Charlie has touched so many of our lives and has been a blessing to all who were honored enough to have known him. As many of you know he suffered from a sudden heart arrhythmia on Saturday March 23rd, which he was unable to recover from. Charlie served his hometown, the City of New York, as a Police Officer for 23 years, and was enjoying his retirement with his wife Chris and newborn daughter Jayda in Australia. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Army, serving multiple tours in Iraq. Charlie was stoic in his service and gave 100% of himself to the mission at hand. I met Charlie only a few years ago and am probably the least qualified to speak on behalf of all those who know and love him. I can however say that in those short few years, Charlie was an inspiration and his memory will be carried with me for a lifetime. I knew a caring, tender man and husband. I witnessed an undeniable love between him and Chris, and was in awe of the how their love was brought into life with the birth of their daughter Jayda, just 5 months ago. I’m so very sad for all of our losses, but most saddened at the fact that Jayda will never get the chance to learn first hand how simply amazing her dad is. I asked some of his friends to give one word to describe the Charlie they know. Some of the responses are; loyal, family oriented, dedicated, blessing, professional, integrity, and “misunderstood”. I encourage all who knew him to comment about the Charlie you knew. I also would like to collect donations to support his immediate family during this shocking and unexpected time of loss and tragedy. Thank you for allowing them the opportunity to both grieve and have the loving support of all those who have been blessed having known Charlie.
