Belton TX Antique Store Needs Help!

Donation protected
Need your help to save our business!!! We need to replace our commercial air conditioner at a cost of $14,000. That’s a lot of money for anyone these days. And in Central Texas, it’s going to be hot for many more months. Please help fund this deserving antique mall family business in Belton, Texas.

Moore Garrett & Co. has been in existence for nine years. Eight of these years have been in historic downtown Belton; which currently is thriving unlike so many small towns. The mall rents sales (booth) space to home or small business owners who just want a small space or to get their feet wet before actually opening their own brick and mortar store. We now have about 75 vendors who sell or make a wide variety of items; from soap to jewelry to antiques, collectibles and everything in between.

The two-story Texas limestone building, located at 216 E. Central Avenue, was built in the late 1880s; just a block from the courthouse. Previous occupants include: J.H. James Grocery Store; Perry’s 5 and 10; Eads-Robinson Furniture and Undertaking (really, they made caskets); a saloon; Schigut’s Department Store; a pool hall and a Masonic Lodge meeting place. The coolest thing is that Ft. Hood, known then as Camp Hood, was actually planned and designed in this very building. Many of these business owners and their families lived upstairs.

We vendors feel a close connection to the owners and their family. They are passionate about their business, their customers and their vendors. The business is essential to the downtown Belton scene and the owners are fully engaged in the community; whether it’s the monthly Third Saturday Market Day, the Fourth of July or Christmas festivities.

Estimates for a 20-ton commercial air conditioner range from $12,500 to $14,000. Like I said before, this amount is hard for most families to come up with. Anything you can contribute would be sincerely appreciated and will enable the business to continue to thrive. Please know that any extra funds will be donated to the Bell County Animal Shelter.
