STAND UP FOR MADDIE MAE
On June 6, 2015, my life changed forever. My daughter Stacy lost her life and my grandaughter was paraliyzed from the shoulders down due to a drunk driver that hit them head on. Since that day, I am and have been the sole caregiver for Maddie Mae as well as her brother Gage who was also in the wreck but thankfully only sustained minor injuries. The money that we have raised thus far has assisted in paying for my daughter's funeral, medical bills, medical equipment, and to build a wheelchair ramp for my now 15 month old grandaughter so we could get her in and out of our house.
Doctor's, friends, and families have not given up hope that Maddie Mae will walk again someday. Maddie Mae is in need of a Stander to assist in this process. Maddie's little body is not designed to sit for long periods of time and remain healthy while continuing to improve. The Stander will enable Maddie Mae by facilitating her ability to stand upright at various intervals throughout the day. Standing frames are used to improve circulation and studies have shown that the joint weight bearing achieved through standing improves bone density.
We are in need of donations to purchase this piece of equipment. Unfortunately, insurance is not covering any of it. Maddie Mae has overcome so many obstacles so far, obstacles that the majority of us will never face nor could ever imagine. We are trying to raise this money quickly to reduce the risk involved of Maddie Mae developing more serious health issues, but also winter is here and the possibility of hazardous road conditions could prevent us from getting Maddie Mae to physical therapy.
Anything will help and please, let's stand up for Maddie Mae. Thank you in advance for your support!
