Hello, my name is Elysia, and I’m writing on behalf of my best friend Candace.

Candace is a devoted mum to a 4-year-old, with another little one on the way. She would never ask for help herself, so I’m stepping in to try and ease the burden during this heartbreaking time.

Her beautiful dog Karma — the sweetest, most loving soul you could ever meet — was viciously attacked tonight (October 1st) when a neighbour’s dog dug under the fence. Karma is now fighting for her life.

Karma is more than a pet. She is pure joy in dog form: she adores life, loves every bit of attention, and takes care of her humans and her furry brother Ace just as much as they take care of her. Seeing her like this is devastating.

Right now, the vets are working hard to stabilise her. Her injuries are severe — her nasal passage has been severed, and her nose is only partially attached. The immediate surgery just to try to save her is estimated at $2,000 (already discounted), with further surgeries, specialists, and reconstructive work likely to follow if she pulls through.

I’m hoping to raise at least 20% of the upfront costs to help put a payment plan in place, but anything extra will go towards her ongoing care. This is the last thing Candace needs with baby number 2 due in just three months, and I just want to do whatever I can to lighten the load.
