70.3 Ironman to raise money for Amy Rainbow and her family

Donation protected
On the 28th of July at Belvoir Castle, myself and my good friend David Cooper will be enduring in a 70.3 Ironman triathlon event. This consists of a 1.9km swim, followed by a 90km bike ride and finally into a half marathon run. We both thought it would be a great idea to dedicate our race to the bravest human we know, Amy Rainbow. This race will be challenging for the both of us however nothing in comparison to what Amy has been through these past few years. She will be in our minds every step of the way! All donations will be given to her and her family to help with her treatments during these difficult times.

Please take a read of Amy’s incredibly brave story since her original breast cancer diagnosis' back in 2021, when she was only just 26 years old.

Amy is now on a very difficult path, facing stage 4 breast cancer, with metastatic disease to her brain, since June 2023. Just 7 months after completing her treatment, after NHS professionals ignored her concerns, and would not offer her any form of brain scan.

Amy ended up in A&E where they found one single brain tumour, although still stage 4, It was still for curative treatment. Amy had to be admitted straight away due to the pressure on her brain, and receive life saving brain surgery to remove the tumour, followed by 6 rounds of radiotherapy. Unfortunately her post treatment scans in November 2023, shown that more tumours had formed around the dural area of her brain. Suspecting that the cancer had now spread into her brain fluid, Leptomeningeal disease, which is a complication of the surgery (that could have been avoided if diagnosed earlier).

Amy feels completely failed by the NHS, & this new disease has limited treatment options in the UK, and has a poor prognosis. So Amy found a private oncologist in the UK going forward, to give her the best chance of more time with her children, husband, family & friends.

Amy has been on her new treatment since December 2023, but already 6 months in, there are concerns her treatment has stopped working.
