Jon Beck, better known to his biggest fans as Jon Simon, Montgomery Word, or the delightful bartender who gets ewe stuff, is in dire need of our help. Jon Simon works for Mad Hanna in the Cully Neighborhood of NE Portland. When, over the winter, two of his coworkers fell ill he stepped up and covered their shifts so they could come back to their jobs once they were well. He is a hilarious and adept bartender who is loved deeply by his community. Those who have the pleasure of being served by him appreciate his wit, his charm and his incredible work ethic. Jon Simon is a beat maker, a DJ, a dog dad, a giving friend, brother and son, and loving boyfriend.Recently, Jon got really sick and needed to use his savings to take time off from work while he recovered. His illness only progressed and searing abdominal pain turned out to be a terrible, terrible hernia that requires surgery. All things, from walking his dog to carrying groceries, and most certainly his extremely physical job as a bartender, have become impossible tasks. His doctor has told him that surgery can’t be scheduled until the beginning of May. I don’t know if you know, but it’s currently the beginning of March. 8 weeks until he can even get in, then a minimum of 8 weeks recovery time after surgery. That’s a minimum of four months of rent, groceries, dog food, and bills that Jon cannot work to make. The anxiety of being unable to work and take care of himself is overwhelming and in an attempt to make ends meet he has begun selling his belongings. Musical equipment that he has spent years collecting and using, equipment that helps him to make money when he is well. It breaks my heart that my friend, my co-worker, this wonderful person who has only ever worked hard and loved music, has to sell his belongings so that he can have an extremely necessary surgery. Jon Simon needs our help. Any amount you can contribute is amazing, there is no amount too small! Tell your friends! Share this campaign and let them know when you do: by contributing to this fund you are helping a person who helps. You are supporting a local musician, a neighbor and friend. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you in advance for your contribution and for sharing this campaign. Jon Simon is worth it ❤️
