Help Janice Beat Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Janice has spent her entire working life in the emergency room in some capacity the last 15 years as an emergency room RN and charge nurse caring for the sick and injured. On February 16th she found a large lump in her breast. Doctors initially thought to be an abscess. She was at work in the emergency room on February 19th and was feeling very bad so  she clocked out of work and checked in to the ER as a patient.  Her white blood cell count was found to be very high. An  ultrasound was done and a large mass was noted . She was immediately admitted to the hospital. Her surgeon came and spoke with her about the findings. He was optimistic that what was seen on ultrasound was infection as evidence by her elevated white blood cell count and scheduled her for surgery the next day to drain the abscess. During the procedure it was found not to be an abscess but in fact a large mass. A biopsy was done and they waited anxiously hoping and praying  for the best. On  February 22nd Janice was given the news that no one wants to hear, the biopsy confirmed her worst fear, aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. Nothing can prepare you for that news! At the young age of only 43 and never sick! How could this be?! They immediately started making phone calls and trying to decide what to do. They landed at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB in Birmingham Alabama. She has an amazing team of doctors including her surgeon in Gadsden. After many tests and discussions with her team , a course of treatment was decided upon. On March 12th she started her chemotherapy treatments . The doctors tell her she can expect a year and a half to two years of treatment to beat this horrible disease. Janice is unable to work in the high stress fast paced emergency room due to her suppressed immune system and other side effects of chemotherapy. They have four daughters, two of which they still fully support. A high energy 8 year old Laci who is active in school, dance and theater and a 21 year old Kayla who is currently following in her mother's footsteps and is in nursing school at Jacksonville State University. Her husband Evan is a veteran firefighter and paramedic of almost 20 years. He has always worked two or three jobs to support his family but since Janice's diagnosis and because of her course of treatment he has been unable to work as much. With all the expenses related to her treatment, their bills, and supporting their children things are becoming difficult. If you can find it in your heart to help this amazing woman who has selflessly cared for so many people over the years they would greatly appreciate it anything helps thank you so much for your consideration. Thank you so much for all the prayers and well wishes they have received, none of it has gone unnoticed Janice will beat this disease and give God the glory!
