Running for a charity provides competitors with an extra incentive to cross the finish line. With that in mind I considered many worthy causes but have settled on organisations which have served and supported me.

The following have been key in my life - Military – Football – Health - Wife ….not necessarily in that order! Hopefully they will help drive me on to the finish! The four organisations I have chosen are……….

The Gordon Highlanders (Museum) - Serving proudly for over 25 years with a Scottish regiment mostly as a Gordon Highlander feel I owe them a great deal, I had a fantastic career and have so many happy memories. Highlanders Day – 17 September, an appropriate anniversary to launch my appeal.

Longniddry Villa Football Club - Football has been my major sport for many years; I have gained so much from the game. LVFC are a well-managed local youth organisation, having coached with them for a number of years know they always struggle for funds.

NHS - Thankfully I haven’t required too much attention although the NHS has saved my life on a number of occasions! The care I have received has been first class, staff have always been extremely professional in their duties; I expect to require their services again!

Forth Valley Chorus - An Edinburgh based chorus which my wife has been a member for 20 years, she loves chorus life; we have always been supportive of each other’s leisure pursuits. Another group that are forever looking for fund raising activities.

£4000 is the target; should you decided to contribute your donation will help greatly in reaching that goal.

Many, many thanks for your contribution.
The Postie always delivers!

OCTOBER UPDATE - The MDS brief was held in London on 4 Oct. Storm Amy did not help! Much information was gathered including the knowledge that the overall distance has been increased to 270km; the ‘long day’ will now be 100km! Bonus! 2026 will be the events 40th year – some present

Training - I have managed to reach a solid base which I’m happy with, now I need to increase the mileage! Events included the Dalmeny and Jedburgh half marathons plus a 10 K in Glasgow. Weekly interval training sessions with RAS help greatly as does the sessions with Life Athletics. Early morning PT and of course work also contribute to the plan! With winter around the corner training will become …less easy! A major concern is injuries – fingers crossed I can stay fit and healthy – a fine line between work, rest and play!
