Help Simon Rebuild His Life in Ireland

My friend Simon recently moved from Slovenia to Ireland in search of a better future. Sadly, things haven’t gone as planned. He was misled into believing he’d have accommodation and job opportunities waiting for him, but instead, he now finds himself homeless in Limerick — relying on the kindness of friends and strangers for a place to sleep.

To make matters worse, Simon has already been taken advantage of by employers. One company refused to pay him for his final month’s work after he gave proper notice, and a restaurant in Limerick also failed to pay him fairly. Despite his best efforts, he has been left without a steady income or a safe place to stay.

Anyone who knows Simon will tell you he is the kind of person who always puts others first. Back in Slovenia, he opened his gym doors to dancers, athletes, or anyone who needed the space — always free of charge. He trained people of all ages in MMA up to three times a day, and he volunteered his time to support people struggling with addiction. I experienced his kindness personally when he gave me a place to stay while I was travelling.

Now, Simon is the one who needs help. Our immediate goals are to:

Secure safe accommodation

Cover basic needs like food and clothing

Support him while he finds stable, fair work

Pay for a Workaway membership so he can access volunteering opportunities in exchange for shelter

Simon is hardworking, kind, and resilient. With just a little help to get back on his feet, he can start fresh and continue to share the positivity and generosity he’s always given to others.
