"WYATT THE WARRIOR" - A MICRO PREMIE'S FIGHT

Donation protected
My daughter, Taylor Humphries was due to deliver her  bundle of joy near the end of December, 2019. She had a difficult pregnancy, due to a short cervix they discovered at a gender reveal ultrasound. She spent almost a month in the hospital after doing a rescue cerclage (sewing of the cervix) at 22 weeks. The doctor said it was a difficult procedure because her cervix length had shrunk even more and how far along she was in the pregnancy. She was released shortly after the procedure to go home, the doctor’s orders were complete bed rest. A couple days later, she returned to the hospital because she was having contractions. They tried several things to try and make the contractions stop. Four days later, even with the cerclage, she dilated to 4cm, and was rushed in for an emergency C-section. The C-section took longer than expected and Taylor did have an episode where her blood pressure dropped but was able to get corrected. Wyatt was delivered and gave 2 short mice like cries at 24 weeks.

Wyatt was the only male name they had picked out. Unbeknownst to them, it means WARRIOR, BRAVE, STRONG, HARDY, BRAVE IN WAR. That is where his story begins, he has been brave in war since his birth. Everyday has been a struggle to survive the obstacles of an early entry into this world. He has overcome many obstacles already, but will have many more to overcome. Wyatt will have a lengthy stay in the NICU, where he will continue to develop, grow and fight. At this moment, we know he will be in the NICU through the New Year. His Mom and Dad are at his side daily, anxiously waiting and loving him from afar. Following a NICU stay, doctors and specialist appointments are going to be the next thing they will face.

Taylor is currently on FMLA, but will need to return to work at the end of October, and has exhausted all of her PTO. Once Wyatt comes home, she will have to go unpaid and job unprotected for a maternity leave.  CJ just started a new job and has no PTO time accrued. For those who do not know how FMLA works, a person’s job is protected for 12 weeks and they receive 66% of their pay. While these new parents are struggling with the day to day issues, paying their regular monthly bills, the medical bills are flowing in from both Taylor’s time in the hospital, surgery, and now Wyatt’s stay in the NICU. As a parent, you do not want to see your child struggle, life is tough enough as it is! I am asking all my friends, family and followers of Taylor’s Facebook posts on Wyatt’s progress, to please join us in the FIGHT as “WYATT THE WARRIOR”  continues to grow and develop! We need your help, donation size does not matter, this boy deserves a chance at life to be with his loving parents. Join our fight by being one of WYATTS WARRIORS!
