Our beloved Tony—husband to Lorraine, dad to Jacob and Joshua, grandpa to two granddaughters, and affectionately known as "Vavee" to many of us—needs our prayers and financial support.
In late July 2024, while being the incredible grandpa he is, Vavee was showing his granddaughter how to somersault when he heard a pop in his neck. What started as a simple moment turned into something much more serious. Severe pain led to an ER visit and eventually a hospital admission. After extensive testing, doctors found fractures in his C3 and T4-T6-T8 vertebrae, along with back tumors, the result of a devastating diagnosis: Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer.
Since then, Vavee has undergone chemotherapy, radiation, neck surgery, and most recently, a bone marrow transplant. His treatment is ongoing, as he will also need a back procedure as soon as he is cleared. While he continues to fight with courage and strength, the journey has taken a toll on him—physically, emotionally, and financially.
The pain from his back fractures is still very real, and he remains in and out of the hospital as he navigates the long and painful road to recovery. Through it all, Vavee keeps a smile on his face and uplifts those around him. But now, he and the Mata family need our help.
The medical bills have continued to mount up. The Matas have always been the kind of family that gives quietly and generously, often behind the scenes. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Please consider supporting Vavee and his family in any way you can—through prayer, a donation, or by sharing this campaign. Let’s come together as a community and help them focus on healing, rather than financial stress.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
