ABOUT OUR FRIEND, ROBIN ZARUBA:
Robin is an outstanding 8th grade math teacher in Denton I.S.D. In her 28 years of teaching, she has taught at Newton Rayzor Elementary and Pecan Creek Elementary schools. She presently teaches 8th grade math at Crownover Middle School. Robin loves her students and goes “beyond” in helping them reach their full potential. Her husband of 28 years, Andy Webster, teaches at Little Elm High School. Their daughter, Gabriella, attends Texas A&M and son, Gavin, attends UNT.
ROBIN’S BATTLE BEGINS:
After a family summer vacation in July, severe back pain led Robin to have X-rays which showed that she had a compression fracture and extensive osteoporosis. Her first kyphoplasty surgery, at the beginning of August, repaired the broken vertebrae and a bone biopsy was taken. Her orthopedic surgeon contacted Robin on her first day of school this year to tell her the bone biopsy showed a Plasmacytoma tumor and multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer). Further testing showed multiple lesions on her pelvis, back, arms, ribs, and skull. Robin has had two more kyphoplasty surgeries and has begun chemotherapy to treat the myeloma. Because of her compromised immune system, ongoing pain, and skeleton fragility, Robin has missed a lot of school. Her Oncology team is hopeful that through chemotherapy and radiation she will be able to have a a transplant of her own stem cells in early 2020.
LET’S HELP OUR FRIEND:
Robin has always been the first to offer and organize help for students, fellow teachers, and other friends in need. She is also the last to ask for help for herself. . She is loyal and always there for those who need her. Now she needs us...Our friend is a fighter, and needs our prayers and help to win this battle. We are establishing this account to raise funds for her treatment and to help support the family. Money will help alleviate the stress and worry Robin is experiencing. She needs to focus solely on her health. If you feel able, a contribution to this fund would be greatly appreciated.
