Imagine a land where the dust rises over your feet with each step you take. Where moms add dirt to their child's once-a-day meal to make it go further and fill the belly - there is no government aid to buy food. Where death from easily preventable illness are a very regular part of life. An old crusty flip-flop keeps the rickety gate shut and a ratty sheet is your roof.
Our two week mission trip will allow us to help some of the least of these, as we work with the children's home in Haiti. Orphans who have been thrown away, told to not come back or risk being beaten, or where death has ravaged their family, now have hope because of the work of missionaries.
Will we become servants to the orphans? While we are there short term, yes. Long term is still to be determined but we are feeling God's call on our lives.
We are fundraising to raise the roof in Anse-Ã -Galets, Haiti
for New Beginnings Haiti Ministry
. And to Plant Hope by raising to help them establish a community garden that will feed the locals.
It is not uncommon for a mother to relinquish her children to an orphanage in Haiti because she cannot provide food or medical treatments for them. New Beginnings takes some of these children in and cares for them until the parents are able to reclaim their children. The ministry goal is to eventually expand and provide jobs so the families can afford the necessities and keep their children with them.
We asked the director what project they wanted us to raise funds for and we were asked to raise funds to purchase the property for staff housing and then to possibly start the build of the home for that property. We will also be assisting with the start of the community garden, taking tools and seeds needed to plant.
My husband and I will be heading to Haiti April 30-May 11, and we hope to start the building process while we are there. You have the opportunity to invest in eternity.
Will you partner with us to support orphans and raise the funds for this huge project for them?
If you can't help financially, please pray for us and this ministry
. If you are praying for us, will you let me know by leaving a message or comment? We'd like to be able to thank you too.You can also help by sharing this page with others on social media, like: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and LinkedIn.
God has all the funds these orphans need!
Thank you so much!
