My husband of 9½ years just left me and my Seizure Alert K9 to fend for ourselves. He left me for another woman who is half our age. He left me to try to pay the rent and all our bills in our home by myself. And he left a week after the 10 year anniversary of my father's death. And just before Christmas. We pay weekly rent. We live in Rocky Water Park in Melbourne, FL.
The owner of the park moved me to a smaller, cheaper unit to try to help me and my service dog. If he didn't we would've been in a tent through the winter. And he didn't want us in a tent if he could help it. My rent here is $200 weekly.
Until my SSI goes through, I'm trying to sell what I can to cover everything I have to pay, but with the holidays here, no one is buying anything.
I've been waiting on SSI for a few years now. My doctor just filled out the paperwork my lawyer needed to help me get approved for SSI. I have seizures, MS (Multiple Sclerosis), COPD, a slipped disc in my C3-4 & C6-7 and just found out I have hyperthyroidism. I'm on a lot of medications. Every 2 weeks I have to go to my doctor for shots on both sides of my C6-7 to attempt to alleviate some pain.
My doctor put a lot of limitations on me. He took my license many years ago. I'm not allowed to climb stairs or ladders, use hand tools, I can only sit for a hour at a time then I have to stand up to relieve the sciatic pain. I'm not supposed to live alone because of the seizures and the amount of medications I'm on, but I have no choice. Dominic (my seizure alert k9) is with me 24/7.
I have to have money to buy his dog food, pay rent, I have to pay my security deposit here in payments until it's paid up, I have 3 medications my medicaid does not cover anymore that I have to pay for. Soon I'll have to pay my cell phone bill myself as well because my soon to be ex-husband will be taking my phone off of his bill.
I get some food stamps. I try to make them last all month, but that's not easy when you can only buy certain foods. Microwavable stuff mainly. I don't have a stove here like I did in our old unit. And the fridge in here doesn't hold much.
Anything anyone can help with would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit will help us get by.
