Breaking Bread Again – A Fundraiser for Gaza’s Children

On World Bread Day, October 16th, people around the world celebrate the simple, powerful act of sharing bread. This year, we invite you to join us in turning that tradition into hope for children in Gaza.

Why This Matters

For children in Gaza, bread isn’t just food—it’s survival. Families face shortages of water, food, and medical care, and the youngest are often the most vulnerable. Together, we can help ensure they don’t go without life’s most basic needs.

My Story

During COVID, I learned how to bake sourdough, and that experience left me with a deeper appreciation for bread—not just as food, but as a symbol of care, patience, and community. That’s why I feel compelled to use “bread” as the heart of this fundraiser, to help children not only in Gaza but in other places where help is needed.

Pita, in particular, is a bread that both Palestinians and Israelis share. For me, it carries a vision: that someday, these two cultures will sit down and break bread again—in peace.

Where the Money Goes

100% of funds raised will go directly to UNICEF, one of the most trusted humanitarian organizations in the world. UNICEF has teams already working on the ground in Gaza, providing:

Clean water and safe sanitation

Emergency food and nutrition support

Medical supplies and vaccinations

Safe spaces for children to learn, heal, and grow

UNICEF is non-political, transparent, and entirely focused on children’s survival and well-being.
