Almost everyday, in the news, we see police officers put their life on the line to save the life of others. They don't think twice when it comes to putting on the uniform to serve and protect. But sometimes behind the badge and the courage a police officer is the one in need, that is the case in Cory Kramer's story, whose wife is battling cancer.
In 2010, Megan Kramer was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer– a very rare and aggressive cancer that she will have to control the rest of her life through chemo treatments. Megan is on her seventh type of chemo after undergoing a mastectomy and radiation.
The Kramer's have to travel to Phoenix, AZ three times a month for Megan's chemo treatments– trips that do not come cheap. The Kramer's also have outstanding medical bills they've tried to get caught up on, a task that seems impossible.
Megan Kramer didn't ask me to start a GoFund, her humble heart wouldn't allow her to "bother" someone with something like this. I am simply a wife to a fellow police officer who knows all to well what our officers do for the community; this is an opportunity for us, the community, to return the favor.
I asked Megan what this money would mean to her, she said, "This money would mean the world to us, as you can imagine things are tight and my illness disables Cory from working. On top of everything we are trying to keep three kids clothed and fed...it's a battle."
The Kramer's are parents to three children: Landon, 11, Ally, 9, and Brenna, 6.
